The first annual Challenge Match with Cambridge juniors was held at St Faith’s School in Cambridge on Saturday 26 September 2015.  Each County fielded players in under 11, 14 and 18 categories and after two rounds of highly competitive chess Essex emerged as the winners of the Challenge Cup.  This was mainly due to strong performances by the under 14 players and a spirited performance by the under 11s who were clear winners of the second round after just losing the first..  Scores were as follows -

U18 - 4:4 draw

  1. round 1 - 1:3 (loss)
  2. round 2 - 3:1 (win)  

U14s - 9.5 - 0.5 (win)

  1. round 1 - 4.5 - 0.5 (win)
  2. round 2 - 5 - 0 (win) 

U11s - 21.5 - 18.5 (win)

  1. round 1 - 9 - 11 (loss)
  2. round 2 - 12.5 - 7.5 (win)
