Attention! Calling all 8-18 year old students in Saffron Walden who are serious about their Chess and wish to make the most of their playing strength

Where?

Saffron Walden County High School – Room B1

 Audley End Road, Saffron Walden, Essex CB11 4UH

When?

Wednesdays 4:15 – 6:15 pm term time. First session is on January 28th

Subsequent sessions in the Spring term are held on Feb 4th, Feb 11th, Feb 25th, March 11th, March 18th and March 25th.

Why?

Zeno's famous paradoxes  continue to puzzle, influence and inspire people to the current day. Similarly, in this new Chess club our aim is to puzzle, influence and inspire budding Chess players. Puzzles and paradoxes are superb mediums for education, and it is only through creative problem solving that real progress can be made in Chess. Warning! Regular participation is likely to improve your opening and middle-game strategies, endgame technique and all-round tactical ability.

Who is the coach?

Rita Atkins, Woman International Master of Chess and former Hungarian Women's Champion in 1992. She also teaches Chess in many Cambridgeshire schools, see www.chessforkids.co.uk

How much does it cost?

£10 per session, altogether £70 for the Spring term. There is a 10% sibling discount.
