The 2nd Essex Junior Grand Prix of 2014/15 held at the The Willows Primary School, Basildon attracted 140(!) entrants from across Essex and adjoining counties. There were also several juniors playing in the Open section for adults and those over 14.

5/6 Aadarsh Saravanan (Dagenham) & Sarah Weersing (Saffron Walden)
5½/6 Leonardo Stefanoni (Ilford) & Luke Vallis (Berks)
4/6 Lakdinu Peries (Colchester) & Asad Shah (Herts)
In the Open event the best score by an Essex Junior was achieved by Elliot Cocks with 3½/6.

Essex Junior Grand Prix 3 for 2014/15 will be held on Sunday, 1 February 2015 at Prince Avenue Academy, Hornby Avenue, Westcliff on Sea, SS0 0LG

Many Essex Juniors have taken part in various events at the London Chess Classic – please see the event website for details. There have been some good performances and in the first round of the Super Rapidplay Naomi Wei got to play former World Champion, Vladimir Kramnik!!
December is also London Junior Chess Championships time and many Essex juniors are involved. The u14 Major was a success for both Elliot Cocks and Partha Mulay as they scored well enough to gain their second half-norms and now be eligible to play for England.
