On Sunday 26 March we fielded a team of six plus two reserves in the under 14 Minor section of the SCCU Jamboree event at Orleans School, Twickenham home of the Richmond Junior Chess Club.  This section of the event proved to be closely contested with seven teams competing for the prizes.  Although our scores could have been better in the first two rounds all the team showed plenty of character and enthusiasm to score an excellent 5.5 from 6 in the final round!

This score brought the team up to a final score of 11 points, just half a point behind the winners Oxfordshire and equal with Richmond A but placed third on tie break (most number of wins).  All of the team won bronze medals, kindly donated by Richamond JCC.  This was an excellent result especially as we had three under 11s in the team and certainly the youngest team in the event!

Well done to all the team – in playing order Charukgan Muhunthan, Christopher Willoughby, Lakshan Siddarth, Ethan Yau, Jonathan Cheung and Charlotte Willoughby with reserves Leonard Cheung and Max Yau.  Not forgetting thanks to  the parents for their support.
